Richard Gabel graduated from Clay High School in 1961. He served his country in the United State Air Force until 1965. Upon discharge from the Air Force, he was employed by CSX Toledo Coal Docks until 1992. In 1992, he became Vice President of the International Longshoremen’s Association and continues to serve in that capacity.
Dick is active in many civic and community organizations serving on various committees, including a member of the Board of Directors for the Lucas County Port Authority. In his spare time, he is a volunteer ombudsman for St. Charles Mercy Hospital.
