My sister and I are the first in our extended family to graduate from college and receive master’s degrees. I graduated from the University of Toledo in 1990 with a Bachelor of Education and in 1996 received the Master of Educational Administration and Supervision from BGSU. My parents preached “hard work” and “education” all my life. My dad always made me do my homework before I would be allowed to hunt or fish with him or permitted to participate in sporting events. It is due to this guidance I believe that a balanced mix of education, hard work and family support are keys to success in life. I was hired into the Oregon City School System in 1992 as the Adult Education Coordinator. I served as an instructor in both the high school and college levels as well as paying my dues as a substitute! Over the years I have been responsible for several areas of district operation including District Technology Coordinator, District EMIS Coordinator, Adult Basic and Literacy Education Director, and Supervisor of Career and Technical Education and now the Director of Career & Technology Education. I have been involved in Career, Technical and Adult Education all of my adult life. I have been involved in legislative activity through the Ohio Association of Career and Technical Education, served as NW Director in the Adult Workforce Development Section, been a member of the Executive Committee of the AWD Administrative section for over 10 years, and have been elected to the position of Treasurer for the state association for my second term. I am also currently serving as member of the Genoa Village Council and feel that community service is a responsibility we all share. I believe Career, Technical and Adult Education offers the needed aspect of applied learning to our education system. The hands-on learning and applied concepts presented in science and mathematics courses here at Clay are put into practice in our career & Technology Labs. The instructors in both the secondary and adult divisions of the Career and Technology Education Department are dedicated individuals that serve the community well and I am proud of their work. I am truly excited to be part of a Career, Technical and Adult Education Department that offers needed skills preparing students to succeed at work and in the college setting! |
