The district staff, students and parents were just getting used to the “new” student information system, eSIS. Then AAL eSIS was purchased mid-year by Pearson. Support for eSIS will be eliminated next year, forcing the district to switch to another new student information system. Oregon City Schools is currently in the process of switching from eSIS to Pearson PowerSchool. According to Technology Director, Nathan Quigg, “PowerSchool is a much better program. I believe staff, students and parents will find it more user-friendly than eSIS.” In particular, parents will like the new online grading program, PowerTeacher. Teachers will be trained in August and will begin using the system at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. In order to field test the system and ensure everything is working properly, online posting of grades will only be entered twice during the 1st quarter. Beginning in the second quarter, grades will be posted 3 times per quarter. Access to eSIS SAM and PAM accounts will be phased out June 30, 2011. Letters will be sent to parents in September with directions and credentials to access their student’s account. Teachers will have all grades entered and updated on the following dates during the 2011-2012 school year:
