8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip

Each year our School district permits our 8th grade students to travel to Washington D.C. to visit our nation’s capital city.  The students and chaperones will see historical sites, museums, national monuments, and several points of interest.  The tour will also take us to Gettysburg and the Luray Caverns in Pennsylvania.  This year’s trip will From May 15, 2012 to May 18, 2012.

The students will have two opportunities to raise funds to off-set the cost of their trip.  The first event will be a coupon book sale which will occur from November 1, 2011 to November 28, 2011.  The second opportunity will be a candy bar.  It will take place at the end of January, or beginning of February 2012.
Mr. Szigeti is our 8th grade American History teacher, at Eisenhower Middle School, and our trip coordinator.  Please contact him if you have any questions regarding our 8th grade Washington D.C. trip.

Seventh Grade VIP students are selected by the Seventh Grade Team twice a quarter.  These are students who work hard, display a good attitude, and are responsible and dependable.  These students receive a Snack Shack coupon and preferential seating at lunch, as well as the opportunity to be the first in the lunch line.  At the end of their term, they may invite a guest to a Pizza Party!

Our first group of Seventh Grade VIP Students are, from left to right,  Anthony Foster, Robbie Edwards, Drew Limpf,  Brianna Kolodziejski, Olivia Hornyak, Cameron Mullins, Bekah Yenrick, Nicole Tuller, Samantha Garrett, and Olivia Morrison.

BP Grant

On December 22, 2010, BP made a generous donation of $30,000 to the Oregon City School District, stipulating that the funds be used to enhance math and science instruction in our schools.
The district administration chose to earmark the funds for students in kindergarten through grade eight, and a committee was formed to decide how the monies would be spent.
Eisenhower Middle School math and science teachers received $1,000 each, and the funds were used to purchase everything from measuring devices such as graduated cylinders and digital thermometers to consumables such as batteries and distilled water.
The people of BP have truly been benefactors to our students at Eisenhower Middle School, and our students have benefitted from their patronage.
Students in Mrs. Pevets’ seventh grade science classes recently learned to conduct a scientific investigation into the relationship between the length of an air column and the pitch of the sound it produces when students blew over the column. In the process they practiced measuring volume and height using metric tools supplied by grant funds.
Pictured are students from Mrs. Pevets’ fifth period science class.  From left to right are Angela Speweik, Lynnsie Briones, and Brianna Kolodziejski.

Key Students- October

        Congratulations to
Eisenhower’s 6th Grade Key Students!!

Each month the Eisenhower 6th grade teachers pick students who demonstrate good behavior, are respectful to other students and teachers, and complete daily class and home work.  We recognize them as “Key Students”. They receive a key which allows them to go first in line at lunch during their time as “Key Student”.  They bring a friend and attend a special lunch with chicken chunks from “Chunkies” at the end of their “reign”.  Congratulations to our October Key Students!
