Archie Griffin 2011

Archie Griffin Award Winners 2011
Eisenhower Middle Schools students, Joe Kiss and Jenna Kidd, have been selected to receive the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s prestigious Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award.  The award, named for the two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, is presented each year to male and female students who have been outstanding in their efforts to promote sportsmanship and academic excellence in their school.

Joe Kiss was a member of the Eisenhower Falcon football team as the starting center and defensive tackle.  In basketball, he also started at center and threw shot put and discus for the track team.  Joe ran the 200m dash this year as well.  He can be heard every day during the morning school’s announcements.

Jenna Kidd was a defensive specialist on the volleyball team and a forward on the basketball team.  Her events in track included the 100m dash, 200m dash, and 4 x 200m relay.  Jenna played on three teams this year that won Great Lakes League championships and the Eisenhower Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

Award winners, Joe and Jenna, have displayed the characteristics for which this award was designed.  The Ohio High School Athletic Association strongly supports good sportsmanship among the youth and adults in our schools.  Congratulations to Joe and Jenna!
