| Fall Sports Season Celebrated |
|
On the evening of November 9th, we celebrated the fall sports season with a crowd that jammed the cafeteria. Mr. Vine mentioned that it was the biggest crowd in memory, and his memory of these events goes back to 1978! There was much to celebrate as our athletes conducted themselves extremely well on and off the fields of play. The seventh grade girls volleyball team finished 16-4 with 3 of their losses coming to undefeated Eisenhower. The Vikings and Eisenhower were the class of the league and battled in the tournament championship. We enjoyed watching them under the guidance of Coach Claydon and are excited to watch these student-athletes continue their development as volleyball players! The seventh grade football team capped off an impressive 8—0 season! This marks the first time, since the season expanded to 8 games this year, that any middle school team has finished 8—0. Guided by Coach Kidd and Coach Reindel, the Vikings posted impressive game after impressive game and let their work ethic speak for itself. Congratulations, Vikings. The cross country team competed in 7 meets this year and found themselves very competitive in all of them. The girls team won their last two meets, including the GLL Championship. Congratulations to the girls on capturing the league crown! Runners from both the girls’ and boys’ teams showed great team spirit this year and they competed hard and improved steadily throughout the year while racking up many miles at Pearson Park in preparation. The eighth grade girls volleyball team made great strides this year as they improved to an 8—8 regular season record. Guided by Coach Harpel, they contested every volley and played as a team. The team also displayed excellent school spirit throughout the season and were unified as a team on and off the court. The eighth grade football team, led by Coach Bennington and Coach McVicker, earned a 5-3 record with some impressive come-from-behind victories, notably the win against Eisenhower in which a last minute touchdown pass sealed the game. The team came together and were committed to each other and it showed down the stretch. Please see the team rosters below. Thank you to all the parents who supported not only your child, but the entire team, this season!
