Since 2006, Ms. Stevens has worked with the Fassett staff, students and parents to train for and participate in the Glass City Marathon races.  What started out as a Fitness Club activity of volunteering to work at a water stop along the marathon route, progressed to training students and teachers to actually compete in the many race distances each year. 

This year was no exception, as nine Fassett students, two teachers and several of their family members competed in the 5k or the marathon! Plus, six students (Austin Lozier, Chloe Shelton, Lauren Lewis, Josh Harrison, Kyle Ford & Austin Case) completed service hours for their GT class or Fitness Club by volunteering at a water stop near the 17 mile mark.

Kaitlyn Lajti, her father Tomas and her Aunt Jamie, Sarah Contos, Grace Paprocki, and Jason Keith all completed the 5k race while the relay team of: Andrew Sterling, Ben Lefevre, Brandon Gyori, Zac Pollauf, and Jessalyn Bohland completed the entire 26.2 mile course in an “FMS Team” record time of 3:44.34!  Ms Stevens ran with the relay team for the first eight miles and then completed the half marathon.  Another Fassett teacher, Mrs. Angst and Ben Lefevre’s father, Robert also completed the half marathon course.  Results can be found on the race web site: http://www.glasscitymarathon.org/
