Post-Secondary Enrollment

Students are able to take courses on local college and university campuses. BGSU, UT and Owens Community College are the most common examples.

Advanced Placement*

Students currently have the opportunity to take AP classes in Calculus, English, American History, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and Government. Students who successfully complete the class and the exam receive college credit.

Humanities*

These challenging classes consist of a block of students who are grouped together and integrate English and Western Civilization. The topics, as well as the pacing, are appropriate for able learners.

Resource Library

Parents, teachers, and administrators can check out helpful materials. To arrange to view or borrow materials, call 693-0665 x2044.

Independent Study

Students elect this educational option when they wish to continue studies in any area in which they have exhausted the courses offered by the department.

Senior Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships provide an opportunity for students to work closely with a professional in an area of interest to the students as they consider possible career choices.

Special Interest Activities

Extracurricular opportunities increase as students move into the high school. Examples include: Science Olympiad, Music Programs, Quiz Bowl Teams, Meeting of the Minds, Junior Scholars Programs, National Honor Society, Student Council, Boys/Girls State, Essex Summer School for the Gifted (selected from applicants statewide), and the Governor's Summer Institute at thirteen state and three private universities.

* Weighted grades are given.
