Whoooo’s Working Hard in Science and Reading?
Fourth grade Jerusalem students enjoyed reading the humorous novel Owls in the Family by Farely Mowat. Science students then investigated the eating habits of owls by dissecting owl pellets! They found intact skulls and bones of birds, rodents, shrews, and moles. After separating the bones from the pellets, the bones were sorted to aid with classification. The students thought this activity was interesting. Wyatt Thompson said, “It was pretty cool,” while Brodi Belinski commented, “It was fun, but it smelled bad.”
