We’re Zooing It -- Again!

Toledo Zoo Visits Jerusalem School for a Second Time

                The first graders at Jerusalem were recently treated to another visit by the Toledo Zoo.  The Toledo Zoo brought their outreach program to school for a lesson on animal coverings!  The students in Mrs. Jaquillard’s and Mrs. Roe’s classes learned about the five groups of animals that have backbones and what covers the animals’ bodies.  Students were allowed to touch the skin of a monitor (reptile), feathers from an African penguin, and the fur from a leopard.  But, of course, the highlight was seeing the live animals.  First zoo employees presented a live tree frog; then out came a seven foot boa constrictor!  Many of the students actually petted the snake!  Thanks to the zoo for making this visit possible.  We look forward to seeing you again next year!
