The Board of Education of the Oregon City School District met for an organizational meeting the 6th day of January, 2010, at 6:00p.m. in the Clay High School Media Center, 5665 Seaman Road, Oregon, Ohio.  Diane Karoly, President Pro Tem called the meeting to order, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, and paused for a moment of silence.  The following members answered roll call: Mr. Gabel, Mr. Heintschel, Mrs. Gadus, Mrs. Molnar and Mrs. Karoly 

SWEARING IN OF NEW MEMBERS

Judge Jeff Keller was present to swear in newly elected board members:  Diana Gadus, Carol Molnar and Richard Gabel. 

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Mr. Gabel made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Molnar to nominate Mrs. Karoly to be Board President. 

Upon roll call all members voted yes.  Mrs. Karoly was elected Board President.

Mr. Gabel made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Karoly to nominate Mr. Heintschel to be Board Vice President.

Upon roll call all members voted yes.  Mr. Heintschel was elected Board Vice President.

Newly elected Board President presided over the remainder of the organizational meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Board members took a moment to review Board Member Code of Ethics before beginning the new years business.

Board Members were appointed to Committees as follows:

Policy/Legislative Committee- Diane Karoly and Diana Gadus
Personnel Committee – Richard Gabel and Carol Molnar
Finance Committee – Eric Heintschel and Diane Karoly
Academic Committee – Carol Molnar and Diane Karoly
Student Activities – Diana Gadus and Diane Karoly
Capital Improvement – Richard Gabel and Eric Heintschel
Community Relations – Eric Heintschel and Diana Gadus Parent Council – Carol Molnar and Diana Gadus

Legislative Liaison to Ohio School Boards Association will be Diana Gadus.

Student Achievement Liaison will be Carol Molnar.

Recreation Board Representative will be Richard Gabel.

Following legal council will remain in effect:
Spengler Nathanson, Gary Breier for local issues. 
Peck, Shaffer and Williams, Columbus, Ohio – bond counsel
Bricker and Eckler – Levy Issues

Board approved continuation of the Board’s Service Fund for 2010 fiscal year.

 
Future meeting dates were tentatively set as the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at 6:00p.m. in the Clay High School Media Center with specific meetings set as follows:

February 24, 2010
March 10, 2010
March 24, 2010
 
Mr. Heintschel made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Gadus to adjourn the Organizational meeting.  Motion passed.  Meeting adjourned at 6:20p.m.
