January Updates

Week of January 9th
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!  The students will be back to school on Tuesday, January 10th.

The annual yearbook sale will begin as we get back from Holiday Break.  Be looking for information to come home with your child this week.

Market Day pick-up will take place in the cafeteria at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11th.

Grade cards will go home on Friday, January 13th.

The 2nd quarter AR Assembly will take place on Friday, January 13th.  To qualify for the event students in grades K and 1 needed to earn 1 point.  2nd graders needed to earn 4 points.  Students in grade 3 had to earn 4 points.  4th graders needed to earn 12 points and 5th graders had to earn 14 points.  The requirements for the AR Reward Assembly reflect points above and beyond the minimum requirements established by the District and/or the guidelines set by your child's teacher through book reports and other class requirements.

Starr Parent Group will be hosting a Family Carnival on Friday, January 13th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Click the following link to see a flyer regarding the details of this event.  http://www.oregoncityschools.org/images/stories/docs/starr/Carnival_Flyer.pdf
Volunteers are still needed for the Carnival.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  If you are unable to make the meeting and are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please contact Kimberly Friedman at 419-360-4405 or 419-754-9878.

It is very important that you follow the traffic pattern around the perimeter of parking lot during morning drop off.  Do not go against the flow of traffic when trying to pull out after being parked in the lot.  This blocks the entrance to the parking lot and restricts those trying to enter the parking lot to drop off their children.

While students are unable to report to classrooms before 8:20 a.m., there are a few exceptions to this rule.  Students who serve on Safety Patrol or have made special arrangements with their teacher in advance are permitted to go to the classrooms previous to 8:20 a.m.

You can earn Starr School 100 Labels for Education Bonus Points by purchasing 5 participating products at Meijer from January 8th - January 18th.  For a list of participating Labels for Education products, please visit www.labelsforeducation.com.

There is no school on Monday, January 16th due to the observance of Martin Luther King Day.

Week of January 16th
