| One hundred percent of our school bus fleet has diesel engines. The fleet is mostly comprised of Type "C" conventional school buses. Our vehicle maintenance department is committed to student safety. The Oregon bus fleet has earned 100 percent passage in safety inspections yearly. The district bus fleet undergoes inspections twice a year. A routine inspection involving a detailed examination of each bus takes place every summer before school starts. Each bus passing this inspection receives a safety sticker from the two inspectors and the state highway patrolman who conduct the inspection. The bus engine, brakes, springs, floors and everything imaginable on the bus is checked. Spot inspections could take place on any given day for any bus throughout the school year. Preventive maintenance by a mechanic every 3,000-6,000 miles takes place on every bus. In addition, our bus drivers perform pre-trip inspections daily. |
