The goal of the Oregon City Schools Transportation team is to provide the safest transportation possible to and from school. Daily, during the regular school term, approximately 35 school buses run about 2,541 miles each day transporting nearly 2,500 students to and from school. We transport to over 15 schools daily, including our public schools, non-public schools and charter schools. Currently, 90% of the school bus fleet will provide runs for two or more schools increasing efficiency. Throughout the school day buses shuttle students to different locations as part of the extended educational needs. Seven buses make special runs for exceptional children. These buses may have an adult monitor on board to assist the students. School buses are run outside the regular 180-day school term for specially funded programs that meet the criteria for the use of school buses. This includes field trips, athletic trips, and extra-curricular activities. Our transportation department schedules approximately 1,000 trips per year.
