Fassett MS Principal's Message

The weather has been great and so has our school year. As we prepare to enter the fourth quarter, it is essential that we continue the excellent collaboration we have shared this year as we work towards helping each of our students achieve.
Achievement has been the focus this year both in the classroom and outside. In the classroom we stress organization, creativity and work ethic. The beginning of the third quarter marked the introduction of Operation Success. Operation Success has been aimed at stressing to our students that failure is not an acceptable option. When students near that mark at any check point (every three weeks), he/she must attend Operation Success after school. At Operation Success, students are taught organizational structures and help with assignments is available. This program has helped many students achieve to a higher level throughout the quarter. We want each of our students to consistently strive to do their best. Thank you to all our parents who make sacrifices to transport their student to Operation Success in order to teach these values and skills.
We encourage each of our students to use his/her agenda daily to record assignments. Please use this tool, if you are not currently, to check the progress of your student daily. As the weather turns, it becomes more imperative that students record assignments, set aside a study time daily and complete all assignments. Students and parents are also encouraged to check PowerSchool every three weeks to see updated grades. If you do not remember your parent password, you can e-mail parentportal@oregoncs.org and ask for a new password.
Please continue to reinforce good attendance habits with your child. Attendance plays an important role in your child’s education. Please revisit our attendance policies which are in our Student/Parent handbook and which are outlined in an article posted to the Fassett web site.
Please continue to call with questions and concerns as we know that home / school communication is imperative as we work together to provide the best atmosphere and education for your child. As always, I am very thankful for your support and for your positive involvement in making Fassett a great place for our students and families.
Sincerely,
Tim Holcombe
Principal

Student Information Please remember to update all student information if it has changed since the beginning of the year. It is important to notify the school with a note if there is any phone number change. Address changes must be done at the administration building with proof of residency. Although you can also update your information on Power School, it is important that we are aware in the office of any changes as we often use the cards in our filing system to contact parents in the case of emergency. Thank you!
Winter Sports Banquet Announced Attention athletes and parents! You are invited to our awards night family potluck, scheduled in the Cafeteria on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. We will enjoy food, fellowship, and memories from the Winter Sports Season. Families are asked to bring both a main dish, a side dish and a 2 liter of juice, pop or water. The school will supply the desserts and eating utensils. Food will be served from 6:30—7:30, followed by team awards from 7:30—8:30. Please make this a special night by dressing appropriately.
IMPORTANT SCHEDULE CHANGE The last day of our student school year is June 5, 2012. We will have a two hour early release on that afternoon. Busses will run from Fassett at 12:10 to end the 2011—2012 school year. This change is due to the rearrangement of some staff training that greatly impacted this year’s instruction. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
