From the Principal
It is amazing that we are in the final stretch! Although the days are quickly winding down, the learning activities and excitement at Jerusalem are as strong as ever! Many special events are happening through the remainder of April and May. Please be sure to look closely at our events calendar so you are aware of what is happening at Jerusalem for the rest of the year.
It is almost time for our third, fourth, and fifth grade students to SHOW WHAT THEY KNOW on the reading math, and science Ohio Achievement Assessments (OAA). Please check the Important Dates column to see when these tests will be given. It is vital that students come to school every day and on time. Students will not be able to enter class after testing has begun. Tests are 2 1/2 hours in length and are scheduled to begin at 9:30 am.
Parents, please avoid scheduling any appointments on these days, be sure your child gets a good nights sleep, eats a healthy breakfast and remind them to relax and simply show off all that they know!

Pint Sized Heroes

Pint Size Heroes
Jerusalem hosted Terri Shinn from the American Red Cross. Terri shared with the students the importance of blood in our bodies and how important blood donations are during the Pint Size Heroes. Students K-5 learned about the jobs blood does to keep us healthy which includes fighting infection, forming scabs, and transporting oxygen. She demonstrated how blood donations are used and explained what a centrifuge does. Terri also explained why adult volunteers are needed to donate blood for use in hospitals and emergency situations.

There's an APP for That

If you were an Early American living thousands of years ago, what APPs would be useful to you? That was the question posed to fifth graders in Mrs. Filar’s Social Studies classes. Integrating technology ideas into her lesson, students created APPs for Early Americans, including Wildlife Identification, Hunting Woolly Mammoths, Poisonous Berries, and Making Fire. Working to create the APP and then designing a logo for it to appear on the touch screen, students demonstrated their knowledge of Early American culture and their creativity. Sounds fun!

New Playground Equipment to be Installed May 12

10 volunteers are needed to help with the installation on May 12.
If you are interested please call the school and give
Mrs. Moore your name.
Kroger Reward Update
As of April 1st, all current Kroger Rewards Program participants need to re-enroll in the Kroger Rewards Program in order to continue to earn funds for Jerusalem Elementary School during 2012. Re-enrolling in Kroger Community Rewards is quick and easy. Please visit www.krogercommunityrewards.com, click on "Ohio" to sign-up for a Kroger.com account or click on "already enrolled? Sign In" if you already have an account. All participants must have a valid online account at Kroger.com to participate. If you have never enrolled in the program, I encourage you to support Jerusalem Elementary School by linking your Kroger Plus Card to Jerusalem Elementary. The program costs you nothing to join and Jerusalem School benefits from your regular purchases
Last quarter Jerusalem earned $288 in the Kroger Rewards Program! Thanks to everyone who has re-enrolled in the program.
