Counselors' Corner - September Print E-mail

Parents of Sophomores: You will receive letters in October regarding the PLAN TEST or the pre-ACT to be offered November 11, 2010. The PLAN is recommended for students intending to apply to college because it provides experience and information on how to improve scores. A letter regarding the PLAN will be sent in October to all sophomore parents.

Congratulations to the following student artists who had their art pieces (see photo) chosen for the Focus Art Exhibition: Heather Keagler(Dragon)- class of 2010, Katrina Romstadt- class of 2010 (Sculptural Basket), Zach Hoskinson- sophomore(Ceramic Juke Box), Sarah Screptock -class of 2010(Scratchboard Drawing),  Christine Carlo –class of 2010 (Photo Realism Drawing)- class of 2010, Kathrin Weishuhn – junior(Altered Book), Tara Reynolds - class of 2010(Sculptured figure).
This juried show boasts a variety of the best art created by Northwest Ohio high school art students. Check out the 2010 Focus show at The University of Toledo’s Center for the Visual Arts Gallery, October 23rd through November 21st. Way to go CHS!
Survey of Art- Students are gearing up for a trip around the world as we discover and explore several cultures and their art. They are creating a mixed-media collage to adorn the cover of their passport books and have begun organizing their binders.
Art Foundations I –Students are discovering some basic print-making skills as they create covers for their art folders. Students are also using collage techniques of mixed media items, printmaking, and painting skills to create a visually interesting cover design for their sketchbooks.
Advanced Art II & Drawing & Painting – Students are creating a sketchbook to work on creative problem solving skills, art journals and drawings from observation. Students are using collage of mixed media items, printmaking, and painting skills to create a visually interesting cover design.
Ceramics and 3D studies – Students are creating sketchbook covers and artist boxes with a bas-relief component using a mixed-media format. The student sketchbooks and artist boxes will serve as a place to plan/journal, keep information, collect inspiring objects, etc.
