English Speakers of Other Languages Print E-mail

The English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program serves students with English language needs.  Students may enter school speaking a language other than English, have a home language that is something other than English, or have academic difficulties due to interference from a first language.

Students studying English as an additional language are sometimes referred to as LEP, or Limited English Proficient.  Oregon City Schools understands the challenges of acquiring a new language, adjusting to a new culture and succeeding academically.  Our program offers assessment, direct instruction, parent consultation and teacher consultation.  Oregon City Schools provides LEP students with ongoing academic assistance based on  individual need.  A rerferral may be made by calling the ESOL instructor or the student's teacher.
