K-Kids is an club sponsored by Kiwanis, an international organization of volunteers dedicated to helping children around the world. K-Kids provides elementary students with an opportunity to work together in service to others while developing character and leadership skills. At Starr School, K-Kids members participate in a variety of school and community service projects. The club meets during the school day so all students have the opportunity to participate in meetings and activities. Some of the projects we have undertaken include collecting food, coats, clothing, and books for others and raising funds for the Toledo Zoo aquarium and United Way. K-Kids members also manage our recycling program, help with Box Tops and pop tab collections, and promote school-wide activities such as the Valentine’s Post Office and Random Acts of Kindness Week.

The Starr School Running Club was created to introduce students to running for fitness. Through the club students are introduced to basic running fundamentals and participate in a variety of different running activities designed to improve running form, build up their endurance, and improve their overall fitness level. It is our goal to help students to build confidence in their abilities and to find a lifelong enjoyment and appreciation for running and fitness.
