Sun Federal Credit Union and Clay High School have partnered to create an ongoing, real-time, branch for the Oregon City Schools community. This partnership allows students to learn and grow in financial literacy, equipping them to achieve their life long goals. The branch, staffed by volunteer student leaders, is the first of its kind to open in Northwest Ohio and gives them hands-on job experience running their own cooperative branch.
The student run credit union offers financial services to
students, administrators and community members of the Oregon City School
District. In commitment to this partnership Sun Federal Credit Union will make
a contribution to the Oregon Schools Foundation at the Grand Opening.
“Our student mission of “People Caring About People” inspires us to provide financial literacy for our future leaders to help them reach their life goals. Learning financial principles and disciplines early on, provides financial freedom which leads to a happier and more productive lifestyle. Clay High School has partnered with us on this endeavor and their students are drivers of this mission.” Gary Moritz, President/CEO of Sun Federal Credit Union.
“OCS is committed to providing our students truly unique educational experiences. The partnership with Sun Federal and the new Clay HS/Sun Federal student-led credit union is a shining example of what a not-for-profit, financial cooperative and education can do to support the relevant learning needs of today's students.” Hal Gregory, Superintendent of Oregon City Schools
